Sherri will star and executive produce her new Lifetime series SHERRI. The show is loosely based on her life and stand-up comedy and premiered on October 5 2009. Also in October Sherri’s humorous autobiography “Permission Slips: Every Woman’s Guide to Giving Herself a Break ” was launched by Grand Central Publishing.

She continues to reprise her hysterical role as Angie Jordan wife to Tracey Morgan’s character on the Emmy® award-winning series 30 Rock. Sherri will be seen in the upcoming feature film Precious alongside Mo’Nique Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey and directed by Lee Daniels (Monsters Ball). Precious is based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire and recently won the Grand Jury U.S. Drama and Audience Award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. The film premieres November 6 2009. Sherri most recently co-starred in Dreamworks’ animated feature Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa where she voiced the character of Ben Stiller’s mother.

The Chicago native co-starred for four seasons with Sara Rue and Andy Dick on the ABC workplace comedy Less Than Perfect. She starred opposite Queen Latifah in MGM’s Beauty Shop and appeared with Bernie Mac in Guess Who as well as other films such as Who’s Your Caddy and Cellular. On television she appeared on Friends Everybody Loves Raymond Suddenly Susan The Jamie Foxx Show and Joan of Arcadia.

Sherri has been on the couch of many talk shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Jimmy Kimmel and she holds the record for being the most-booked guest on The Ellen Show (23 times). In 2008 she served as co-host along with Cameron Mathison at the Daytime Emmy Awards. A self-described “class clown ” Shepherd always wanted to pursue a performing career. She relocated to Los Angeles during high school and considered being a mortician but opted for a job as a legal secretary instead. In 1990 she came face-to-face with destiny. After witnessing Andrew Dice Clay on stage Sherri was encouraged by friends to put her own act together. Her love for performing was instantaneous; success however was not. For five years Sherri toiled as a secretary by day and hopped on the bus at night to do her stand-up. She finally got her first real break with the comedy Cleghorne! starring “Saturday Night Live” alum Ellen Cleghorne.

Shepherd attributes her success to her faith in God her grandmother and her father’s constant encouragement to become anything she wished through hard work and humor. She also has a tremendous amount of respect for other performers and mentions Whoopi Goldberg Angela Bassett Janet Jackson and Michael Jordan among her professional role models.

Sherri Shepherd and “The View” co-hosts were recently named #11 on Forbes “Most Influential Women in Media” list.

Sherri’s free time is spent with her four-year-old Jeffrey.
