Mike Binder's Bio

Mike Binder began his career as a stand-up comic in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of the youngest comedians ever to appear on the Tonight show. As an actor he had had roles in Taxi, Barry Levinson’s Diner Pilot, and several Norman Lear shows among other, he then went on to write many screenplays and direct and act in films such as The Upside of Anger with Kevin Costner and Joan Allen, and Reign Over Me with Adam Sandler was well as television shows like Ray Donavan, Nashville, and Billions. He acted in films such as Minority Report and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, and wrote screenplays for Jim Carrey, Steven Speilberg, Robert Zemekis, Julia Roberts, Tim Allen, Reese Witherspoon, and Ben Affleck.



He starred for two seasons on HBO’s The Mind of the Married Man and his films The Search for John Gissing, and The Sex Monster both won Best Feature and Best Comedy at the US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen.



He wrote and directed a five part documentary series on The Comedy Store for Showtime, and is the editor and founder of Standupworld.com a popular website and newsletter on the art and craft of modern stand-up comedy.
