LaRoyce Hawkins has a way with words. The multitalented artist specializes in television, film and theatre acting, poetry, and spoken word. He is best known for his longtime role on the hit NBC drama “Chicago P.D.”
Born and raised in Harvey, Illinois–a south Chicago suburb–LaRoyce attended Thornton Township High School, where he first became interested in acting and stand-up comedy. He attended Illinois State University on a full tuition scholarship and majored in acting.
Hawkins began his professional career in the motion picture “The Express” followed by television appearances on Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne,” “Detroit 187” and “Underemployed.” He landed his first major television role as Officer Kevin Atwater on “Chicago P.D.,” has recurred on “Chicago Fire,” and appeared in the Emmy-nominated HBO series “Ballers.” Hawkins showcases his comedic chops on HBO’s “South Side” and the BET+ film “North of the 10.”
When he’s not performing, Hawkins spends his off-screen time in his community with his Be Powerful initiative, serving underprivileged youth and families in need.
