Julie Kim's Bio
Julie Kim is one of Canada’s top stand-up comedians. She was born and raised in Toronto and is now based in Vancouver. Julie has performed at all the major Canadian comedy festivals including Just for Laughs Montreal, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and Halifax Comedy Festival (with multiple televised performances). She has been a regular performer at CBC’s The Debaters. Julie recently toured across North America doing 40 theatre shows with Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah).
In 2023 Julie made her debut at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, as a top pick. She also had four sold-out shows at Just for Laughs in Toronto and sold out her album recording show in Vancouver. Julie also wrote a one-hour solo show in 2023 that was cited as a top pick at the Toronto Fringe Festival and was among the best attended shows at the Victoria Fringe Festival.
Julie is also a writer and received a Canadian Screen Award in 2023. She has contributed to the writing rooms of Kim’s Convenience, Run the Burbs, and Still Standing. Julie has been part of the writing and creative consulting team at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival for the past three years and wrote for Just for Laughs Montreal in 2022. Julie was a producer and writer for Simu Liu (Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as he hosted the Juno Awards in both 2022 and 2023.
Julie was included on VIBE’s list of POWER 60: Inspiring Asian-Canadians of Influence in 2023, alongside Russell Peters, David Suzuki, and Sandra Oh. Also in 2023, she was overwhelmingly voted Vancouver’s #1 Best Comedian
