Russell Peters' Bio
The Canadian comedian, who is of Anglo-Indian descent, broke out in 2004 when his set on Canada's Comedy Now! went viral. Peters, who has sold out arenas such as Madison Square Garden and Wembley Stadium, is on the U.S. leg of his Deported world tour, which already has played for more than 200,000 people in 29 cities across 20 countries. One of the first comics to do a Netflix special, 2013's Notorious, Peters' late-night stand-up appearances include The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Lopez Tonight, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. He also has starred in the CTV/Netflix scripted comedy series The Indian Detective and executive produced the Peabody and International Emmy-winning docuseries Hip-Hop Evolution. In film, his recent credits include Supercon, Adventures in Public School and The Clapper. Peters' 2010 memoir, Call Me Russell, was a Globe and Mail best-seller in his native Canada. His philanthropic work includes The Russell Peters North Peel Scholarship, which sends a student from his high school alma mater to college every year.
